I'm a dog lover in fact we have a 10 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Poppy. She's a rescue dog and training seems to take forever with her. She is constantly doing crazy things in the garden and the house and I'm always wishing I had my camera with me to catch those moments. Unfortunately, I'm sure even if I had the camera handy the image would be a blur because she's constantly moving. Here's one of the rare times I managed to get her standing still.

Ron Schmidt an American photographer seems to magically capture dogs and puppies in wonderful and funny images. Some of course are staged and how he manages to keep the dog still in a costume is beyond me however; they're truly adorable.

When I was younger I remember having a small cream leather covered journal with a little gold lock and key. I was so good about writing down all the events of my pre-adolescent days. Years later when I found it; it brought back a lot of memories ( and even gave me a few chuckles) recalling my many crushes and child-like handwriting.

Fund Raising

The 1st of April, we're rolling out a monthly fundraising scheme. We're fundraising for WWF (World Wildlife Federation). Each month we'll be highlighting a different endangered animal as well as a t-shirt. For every t-shirt sold featuring that particular animal, we'll be donating 10% of the profits to WWF. Customers will be able to view our goal thermometer showing how much we've raised.

As WWF's logo is a panda bear we will be starting our campaign with Panda Bear t-shirts. Any of our panda bear t-shirts sold during the month of April will be part of the campaign. So tell your friends and help us raise money for WWF!

Why I love The Mountain

First of all I know it's been a while since I last blogged. I am probably the world's worst blogger. But I decided this morning to take a few minutes to blog about why I'm passionate about The Mountain.

When we first started selling The Mountain t-shirts there were very few online shops selling them here in the UK. Infact I can only recall two others that were prominant in the search engines.

Initially I was drawn to the designs and quality of the tees and that's why we began selling them. It wasn't until after I realised just how amazing this company is that I became passionate about them.

It's not just about the designs or quality of the shirts it's what goes on behind the scenes. The Mountain is a company that cares about it's community and the environment.

Located in Keene, New Hampshire the company first takes care of it's employees. An on-site Child Care Center is available for all their employees with pre-school aged children. They also make sure their employees are well-fed by serving healthy organic meals twice a day to the entire company free of charge!

The Mountain also support local charities as well as worldwide green causes. While they have been working for years at running a low carbon footprint business it was recently they began treating the excess water they use in making their shirts. The dying process they use has always been earth-friendly water based dyes so the excess water was never a threat to the environment. However; now they remove the colour from the water so it's just clear going out as it was coming in.

You can't help but applaud a company that clearly isn't just about turning a profit but taking care and supporting the community, and environment. It's one of the main reasons we love selling their t-shirts!

Tom and Misha the dolphins

Well done to the Born Free Foundation for securing the release of two dolphins Tom and Misha held in a dirty swimming pool in Turkey.

It's sad to think this is just one of many stories where wild animals are being held in captivity in appauling conditions.

The dolphins are currently in a holding tank off the coast while under going medical assessment and then will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility until they can be released back into the wild.

The Born Free Foundation is looking for donations to cover the £150,000 expense of rehabilitating these two dolphins. Donations can be made through their website http://www.bornfree.org.uk/

My usual blogs are about our products however; having done a lot of online shopping myself recently I decided to do a blog about shopping online.

With the recession and job layoffs we see a lot of new shopping sites popping up all over the internet. We have a lot of customers phoning in orders as they're afraid of making a purchase online. I also had a few bad experiences myself recently (a seasoned online shopper).

So for the "silver haired surfers" and the "internet newbies" what should you look out for?

Don't be tricked by the fancy site and stunning display of flash images. (Yes our site has it) be wary of sites that don't include telephone numbers or more than one way to contact the web owner.
Avoid websites that state "we are not responsible if", there are a few exceptions including delays due to postal strikes, and holidays.
Sellers that state they aren't responsible if your order goes missing; and that they will give you the proof of postage receipt so you can follow up the loss yourself, should be tarred and feathered. Wrong answer. Sellers are responsible to make sure the order gets to you the customer.
Be wary of websites that give you an option of standard postage or recorded delivery. Chances are if the order goes missing they'll be one of those sellers that makes you track your own lost parcel.
Recorded delivery is for the benefit of the seller, not the buyer. Recorded delivery doesn't track the order, it just shows when the order has been signed for. If you've signed for the order you know you've received it. Recorded delivery helps prevent fraud and charge back for sellers.
It's perfectly acceptable however; for a website to give you the option of trackable service or standard. As you are then able to follow every step of the delivery process.
Look for sites that have a full set of terms and conditions that cover returns, exchanges, delivery times, procedures for lost orders etc.
Don't assume anything based on the photo of a product. Colours look different on various monitors. So be sure to ask questions prior to ordering to avoid disappointment.
By law customers making purchases online are allowed a cooling off period. This generally varies between 7 to 14 working days (sometimes more). This should be stated on the site. If the site doesn't include this, ask and if you aren't given the appropriate response AVOID.
Websites should include a list of payment methods. If you're making a purchase by credit card or debit card make sure the page asking for your financial data has a lock symbol somewhere on the page which indicates the page is secure.
Google the site. This gives you an opportunity to see if there are any negative press on the site or unhappy customers venting their anger about the site's performance on other forums.
Websites should clearly mark information about dispatch and delivery times. The last thing you want to do is guess when you're order will arrive. Good websites will keep you updated throughout the transaction. Be sure though to check your spam folders as sometimes these updates may end up there.
Once you've made a purchase and received your order write a review. If the site has a review section make sure you write one. You're helping future customers make decisions on the safety and efficienty of that site.

One of our most popular skulbone t-shirt is "Zombie And Ghosts" a glow in the dark t-shirt featuring the artwork of Vincent Hie. This design is two in one really. By day the t-shirt displays a haunted house with gravestones and zombies. By night the walking dead disappear and are replaced by glowing ghosts.

Three wolf moon t-shirt has become an internet success. Now if you google this t-shirt manfactured by The Mountain you'll find hundreds of pages, blogs, news articles about this viral phenomenon.

In the past 24 hours we've had a new website design uploaded at www.TamsTreasuresOnline.co.uk . Hope you all like it! We sure do. There's some new features like the new drop down side menu. We're hoping customers will find it easier to find categories and products.

New Years Resolutions

It's hard to believe another year has gone and we're 9 years into the Millenium. With New Year's resolutions at hand we continue to stick to our goal of running and living a "green" business and home life.

Going green doesn't necessarily mean giving up some of life's luxuries. People use the excuse "sending an email is better for the environment" than sending letter or cards. However; our greeting cards are perfect for those who want to stick to their resolution but at the same time be a bit more personal than sending a quick email.

Our tree free greeting cards by Tree Free produce amazing blank greeting cards that are 100% tree free (hence the name). These cards are made using sustainable resources such as the kenaf plant. Kenaf grows quickly and by purchasing these cards you also support kenaf farmers.

As well as kenaf, Tree Free also use sugar cane bagasse known as Sweet Paper. This is the pulp left over over and like the kenaf requires no bleaching. Traditional paper requires bleaching which uses a lot of energy as well as chemicals that are harmful to the earth.

Our new site design

We recently had a major overhaul on our website trying to break away from the fairy image as we've made a name for our site selling fairy inspired gifts.

Our new design showcases our broad range of t-shirts by The Mountain® some of our popular designs include wolf t-shirts, tiger t-shirts, and Native American t-shirts. We wanted to appeal to a larger audience including men and felt the fairy probably hindered that a bit.

So now we're happy and exceptionally proud of the way our new sign looks and how easy it is to navigate through the pages. We still have some great fairy gifts like fairy stickers, fairy divas, fairy greeting cards and fairy key rings. However, we've not got a selection of gifts that cover wildlife and a broader range of giftware.

Global warming, and environmental issues have been around for years however; it wasn't until recently that retailers have decided to join the bandwagon and start selling earth-friendly products and giftware.

Whilst I'm pleased that people are becoming more aware of the earth's plight and the need to source environmentally acceptable merchandise, I can't help but think a lot of retailers are just about the profit margins.

When we started selling The Mountain t-shirts, Tree Free Greetings and giftware we made a conscious plan to make sure the products we were selling had little impact on the enviroment and left low carbon footprints.

It's not just about profit for us, it's about showing consumers that earth-friendly giftware doesn't have to be dull, uninspiring gifts recycled from old tyres, plastic and newspaper.

Tree Free greetings produce gift bags, greeting cards and note cards from sugar cane bygasse, sustainable kenaf crops, and fast growing bamboo. Not only are these resources sustainable but the soy based inks they use produce a colour and quality to the prints that match the quality of any top laser printer on the market.
